From a young age, I always loved being active, whether that be riding my bike, or kicking a soccer ball, loved being outside and doing something, anything really!
My transition from more cardio based activities and sports into strength training came around 2015 when I was enrolled with my schools’ sporting excellence program. This was designed to help athletes, who were excelling in their chosen sport, another level of training outside their usual ‘team training’ and what not, into strength training, just to aid the sport.
Immediately I fell in love with the gym. The culture with it, science behind training, biomechanics of it all, but mainly the feeling of hitting a massive lift!
Ever since then, I strayed away from cycling (my chosen sport at the time) into strength training. As of May 2022, I started training almost exclusively for powerlifting, competing in my first comp in July 2023, coming second place in my weight class and 5th overall.
Although I love strength training, I still have a passion for cardio training also, whether that be running, or cycling, with the possibility of return to velodrome racing one day! I am currently doing both, working towards an event which involves a maximum bench press, maximum deadlift and a 1 mile (1.6km) fastest run time!
I love working with people who want to push multiple modalities at once (think strength training alongside running or cycling), anyone that is wanting to compete in powerlifting as well as welcoming anyone new into the gym, and helping them understand the right way to go about training!
